Himalayan Cultural Heritage Foundation has been diligently doing research on ancient traditional arts, found in the monasteries, stupas, forts and even carved on the stones of this land. Their work has also enlightened us on the value of natural medicinal plants, folk traditions such as dress, songs, and music of Ladakh by persistently working and organizing awareness campaigns, seminars, workshops and training programs. For that, I would like to congratulate the team especially the founder, Dr. Sonam Wangchok ley.

HCHF consistently maintains high international standards in all the projects undertaken. It has focused attention on the dilapidated state of Chortens, through capacity building and training of traditional craftsman. HCHF has also been involved in the revival of folk arts and other intangible traditions. It has a large footprint and credibility amongst the local population in both Leh and Kargil districts. This is a great achievement that along with other innovative programs such as the biannual cultural magazine, lecture series and events to popularize and create awareness of the rich cultural traditions off Ladakh has impacted the state of awareness in the region. It has been a privilege to watch this organization grow from its initial days under the capable stewardship of Dr. Sonam Wangchok

I always appreciate Dr Sonam Wangchok’s dedication and encouragement for protection and promotion of Ladakhi culture and heritage.
